This is not a single sided deadbolt. It is only one side of the deadbolt and without the other side it really has no use. No strike plate was included; must order seperately.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is a quality piece of hardware. It replaces a KwikSet bolt that had a plastic bolt housing - bound to break over time. I wish the instructions had mentioned the "break-off" on the control lever. I spent a lot of time agonizing over how I was going to create the required depth in the door and was about to give up when I noticed the "break-off" indentation.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
